Insurance execs stole $1.1B then got life like it’s a group plan

Rp 16.8 trillion vanished from an insurance company and the dudes in charge just got life sentences.

That’s $1.1 billion in allegedly siphoned premiums at Indonesia’s state insurer Jiwasraya — aka money regular people paid thinking it would be there when life inevitably body-slams them.

The former president director and other execs were sentenced to life for allegedly embezzling premium revenue while the state tallied the damage like it’s a broken office chair. Translation: they didn’t “mismanage investments,” they treated the company like an ATM that only dispenses yachts.

And it’s always the same script. Customers pay in every month like responsible adults. Executives “deploy capital” and “optimize portfolios.”

Meanwhile, when normal people mess up with money, you get overdraft fees and a bank app notification that reads like it was written by a debt collector with an English degree.

These guys allegedly torch a state insurer for $1.1B and only then does the system remember consequences exist. Not because the public got protected — because the math got too loud to ignore.
