Google is reportedly about to drop its biggest-ever acquisition like it’s buying a new skin in Fortnite — except the skin is “regulated financial infrastructure” and the emote is “we own your login and your money now.”

The rumor says Google’s finalizing a monster deal to grab fintech security assets plus UK/EU payment licenses. Not “partnering.” Not “integrating.” Buying. The boring paperwork that turns you from “tech company” into “oh great, now you’re legally allowed to touch payments.”
