House GOP hit pause on governing to fight over abortion money again

Congress takes more recesses than a kindergarten class, and somehow they still found time this week to NOT write laws on purpose.

House Republicans reportedly delayed rolling out new legislation because they can’t stop fighting over the Hyde Amendment — the rule that bans most federal taxpayer funding for abortions.

Instead of dropping their planned bills, leadership hit the brakes and pushed the whole thing until after recess. Which is political-speak for “we’re taking our ball and going home until everyone agrees to call the other side a baby murderer in the exact right font.”

This is the part where someone says they’re “standing on principle.”

And yeah, Democrats do their own hostage-note politics too — different issue, same tactic: jam the must-pass stuff with your red-meat add-on, then act shocked when the room catches fire.

Meanwhile, your rent isn’t getting delayed until after recess. Your health insurance premium isn’t waiting for a committee markup. Your paycheck doesn’t get to “postpone legislative text” when the car needs brakes.

This fight isn’t about saving money. It’s about buying leverage — because Washington learned a long time ago that the fastest way to get attention is to grab the steering wheel and start swerving.
