Samsung just killed the foldable crease and dared Apple to blink

Samsung rolled into CES 2026 like “what crease?” and showed a foldable display that’s allegedly creaseless — aka the one thing keeping foldables from looking like a phone that’s been emotionally abused.

This is Samsung doing what Samsung does best: shipping the future while Apple writes a 47-page memo about “courage” and removes another port.

The timing is not subtle. iPhone Fold rumors have been bubbling, and Samsung basically walked on stage, made eye contact with Tim Cook, and set the group chat on fire.

Samsung’s pitch is that this is the “first” creaseless foldable display.

If the crease is actually gone, foldables stop being a rich-guy toy and start becoming… normal. And once something becomes normal, carriers start pushing it like it’s Ozempic.

And yeah, “display demo” doesn’t mean “shipping tomorrow.” CES is where companies show you a concept and then you die of old age before it hits Best Buy.

Meanwhile Apple gets to choose between two spiritual nightmares: (1) ship a foldable and admit Samsung was right first, or (2) don’t ship one and watch foldables turn into the new default while Apple sells you “the best slab we’ve ever made” for $1,299.

Either way, you’re paying for it — in monthly installments, with a smile, like it’s a personality trait.
