Big Tech’s AI power problem: data centers projected to hit 8% of U.S. electricity by 2030

Amazon/Google/Meta/Microsoft/Oracle/OpenAI/xAI signed a federal pledge to supply their own power for AI data centers—because otherwise consumers eat the electric-bill spikes (and grids eat blackouts). This is self-regulation with a side of “please don’t regulate us.”
